It is organized by the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes in collaboration with the Union of Municipalities of Cyprus, the Cyprus Human Resources Development Authority, and corresponding Maltese organizations ( Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST), Western Regional Council, National Skills Council and the European Union Programmes Agency) with the support of the Center for Social Innovation (CSI), in the context of the European Year of Skills.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase will be held simultaneously in Cyprus and Malta from November 17 to 18, 2023, as part of the European Union&#8217;s European Year of Skills 2023. A total of 40 young people (20 from each country) will participate.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will form teams of 5 people and, with the guidance of a mentor, will design tangible solutions for European citizens. The focus will be on two main areas: skills needed for the next 6 years (2023-2029) and skills required for the decade 2030-2040.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, participants from Cyprus will have the opportunity to travel to Malta the following week, from November 23 to 25, for the official closing ceremony of the Hackathon. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams from both countries, and all participants will receive certificates of participation. Additionally, the members of the Cypriot team with the highest score will be eligible for scholarships from leading private universities in Cyprus.[\/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion He previously managed Esplora Interactive Science Centre, promoting STEM through the National STEM Engagement Working Group. His background includes teaching science, various contributions to Lifelong Learning and the EU agenda for Adult Learning, initiating learning hubs and a diploma for teaching adults. He leads the agency\u2019s Skills intelligence project and is also responsible for data quality and analysis in Cedefop\u2019s work on using big data to understand skill needs in online job advertisements. Jiri also works on connecting of outcomes of various Cedefop\u2019s projects in agency\u2019s skills intelligence products and visualisations. He worked in multinational companies based in USA and Cyprus and in 2009 he joined the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth in Cyprus in the Department of Technical and Vocation Education and Training.<\/p>\n<p>Kyriacos was the leader of the governmental committee for the development of the Cyprus Qualifications Framework and its referencing with the European Qualifications Framework.<\/p>\n<p>He is a National Expert representing Cyprus in the EU on the European Qualifications Framework Advisory Group, the EUROPASS Advisory Group, he is a Governing Board Member of the European Training Foundation and a VET Expert in the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Stelios Orphanos &#8211; Senior Education Planning Officer, Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Stelios Orphanos is a Senior Education Planning Officer at the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth. Initially he worked as an elementary school teacher and then as an Associate Professor of Educational Administration at Frederick University. He represents the Ministry in various organizations and working groups such as the ACVT, the EC-Working Group for the Green Transition, the Cedefop Community of Experts and the Cyprus National VET Team.
